FC Barcelona B v Indonesia U19: Comfortable win (6-0)

Luis Suárez and Vermaelen helped the reserves to victory against the touring Indonesian juniors Vermaelen, Suárez (2), Babunski, Agostinho Cá amd Maxi Rolón (pen) all found the net

Barça B hosted the visiting Indonesia U19 team in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday afternoon. The encounter included the additional attraction of first team players Luis Suárez and Thomas Vermaelen getting a run-out. Eusebio used the game to field some of his less regular squad members, and they responded brilliantly with a 6-0 win.

First minute goal

Right from the kick-off it was clear that Barça B were a class above their opponents, scoring in the very first minute thanks to Thomas Vermaelen’s header off a Babunski cross. Ten minutes later, Luis Suárez also got his first goal in a Barça shirt with an angled strike.

It was constant attack from the home side, with David Babunski making it three with a finely placed shot from the edge of the area. There were further chances before half-time, but there was no change in the scoreline before half-time.

Subs get a go

Eusebio used the second half to give some time to the players that haven’t been used so much this season, including Agostinho Cá, Maxi Rolón and Campins. It was the Portuguese midfielder who made it 4-0 off a Halilovic through ball, after the Croat himself had hit the crossbar twice during the game.

Just two minutes after FCB’s fourth, Luis Suárez got his second of the day, this time with a fine left-footed effort. And with moments left to play, Maxi Rolón converted a penalty following an Indonesian handball to make it 6-0.

Indonesian visit

The Indonesian U19 team are currently touring Spain playing a number of Liga B teams. The 40-strong group of players, officials and coaches also found time during their visit to FC Barcelona to enjoy a tour of the Camp Nou Experience.
