Natalia Rodríguez signs for the FC Barcelona Athletics team for the season

The national record holder for the 1500m and runner up in the 2010 World Indoor Championships will represent FC Barcelona

Natalia Rodríguez has signed for FC Barcelona and will represent the blaugranes during the season 2014/15. The athlete from Tarragona is one of the most well known faces in Spanish track and field and joins the Barça Athletics section.

Rodríguez is the national record holder at 1500m with a time of 3min 59.51 which she set in 2005. Furthermore, she was runner up in the World Indoor Championships in Doha in 2010, losing out to the Ethiopian Kalkidamn Gezahegne. A year later in Turin she picked up gold in the European Indoor Championships. The middle distance runner also claimed a bronze in the 2010 European Outdoor Championships which took place in Barcelona.

She was amongst the medals again in 2011 in Daegu, South Korea in the World Championships outdoor. Her bronze was the only medal for the Spanish team at the Championships.

Natalia Rodríguez has also taken part in four Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012).
