The Argentinian, with today’s derby hat trick, has reached this astounding figure that includes both official matches and friendlies

Two weeks after surpassing Telmo Zarra's all-time league scoring record and Raul's all-time Champions League scoring record, Lionel Messi has reached yet another milestone. Messi's three goals in Barça's derby victory over Espanyol at Camp Nou on Sunday have given him an astounding total of 402 goals for the club, adding together goals in both official matches and friendlies since he first debuted with the team.
In addition, with today's hat trick, Messi has also become the top goal scorer in the history of the derby, with twelve.


The 402 goals have come in six different competitions and friendly matches during Messi's 10 years playing. The tallies: 256 goals in La Liga; 29 in the Spanish Cup; 74 in the Champions League; 10 in the Spanish Super Cup; 1 in the European Super Cup; 4 in the Club World Cup; and 29 in friendlies. Of the 402 goals, 374 have come in 443 official games while 29 have come in friendlies. In La Liga alone he now has 256 goals, good enough to be the top scorer in the history of the league after surpassing Zarra.
