Manchester City draw 1-1 at Everton, fall out of first

In an even-handed contest, Pellegrini's squad could not find a way to win on the road

In English Premier League action on Saturday, Manchester City tied 1–1 at Everton in a very even game in which the visitors enjoyed the best chances but could not get the game-winner. After a scoreless first half, the Citizens, who face FC Barcelona on February 24th in the first leg of the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, got in gear and went ahead thanks to a goal from Fernandinho in the 75th minute. But shortly after, Steven Naismith got the equaliser for Everton.

It was an unfortunate setback on a day that saw the return of Kun Agüero—he had been sitting out with an injury since early December. With Chelsea's 2–0 win over Newcastle, Manchester City have fallen out of a first-place tie with Chelsea and are now two points behind them.
