Barça won 6-2 at Valdagno in the first leg of their European League quarter final on a court where nobody had won all season. The side from Vicenza, Italy were in trouble after just two minutes when Marc Gual scored from a penalty and the same player added a second just two minutes later. Ordóñez pulled one back for the home side, but Reinaldo extended the Catalan’s lead on the stroke of half time.
The rout continued after the break, with Panadero and Pascual making it 5-1, and Pablo Álvarez adding a sixth after the Italians had salvaged some honour with their second goal.
The result leaves the side coached by Ricard Muñoz perfectly poised for a place in the final four, but they still have the second leg at the Palau Blaugrana on Saturday 21 March to get through.
