Germany and ter Stegen out at UEFA Under-21

Team fall to Portugal 5–0 in semi-finals and are sent packing after a solid showing

FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and his Germany U-21 national team will not be in the final of the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship being held in the Czech Republic after being eliminated in the semi-finals by Portugal.

Goals from Bernardo Silva (25'), Ricardo (33') and Ivan Cavaleiro (45'+1') gave Portugal a 3–0 lead before halftime. Less than a minute after the start of the second half, Joao Mario netted Portugal's fourth. Ricardo Horta scored the fifth and final goal on 71 minutes to complete the rout of a German team that finished with ten players after Bittencourt was sent off.

Portugal await the winner of the other semi-final between Denmark and Sweden. Thus, ter Stegen can finally take a vacation after some excellent performances in the group strage and a marvelous debut season for FC Barcelona.
