Pau Ribas has signed for FC Barcelona Lassa from Valencia Basket, and will be meeting up with two old friends in the Catalan capital
Pau Ribas has met up at FC Barcelona Lassa with two familiar faces. Justin Doellman and Brad Oleson both played with him at other clubs in the past.
Three years with Oleson in Vitoria
Pau Ribas and Brad Oleson were at Baskonia in Vitoria from 2009/10, when they newly crowned European champions Barça by beating them in the Liga ACB final.
Oleson is delighted to greet an old friend. “He’s a good lad” he says. “That’s very important. He’s a great team-mate and one of those players that makes a difference on and off the court. I played with him for three seasons at Vitoria and we got on very well. We always understood each other on court and I think he was a good signing for the club. I have no doubt that he’ll do a lot of good for us.”
The Alaskan guard adds that “he’s a player that gives 100% and makes his team-mates better too. He has a great throw, he’s good at the pick and roll, and he’ll help open up shots for the boys. I’m really looking forward to playing together this season.”
Two years with Doellman in Valencia
Pau Ribas was at Valencia in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, playing alongside Doellman in the Copa del Rey 2013 final, which they lost to FC Barcelona, and winning the Eurocup, with the American named tournament MVP.
And he can’t wait to meet up with an old pal. “I’m very pleased that he’s joined the team” he said. “He’s a team-mate who understands the game very well and I’m sure he’ll help us to reach our targets. He’s intelligent, versatile and can play different roles. I can’t wait to see his five on one passes again!”
