Emery: We have what it takes to beat Barça

The Sevilla coach sees the blaugranes as favourites and plays down the absence of Neymar

“The final is only for the few and tomorrow we want to take advantage of the chance to play against a great side. Barça are favourites but we have a chance and we will work hard to overcome them.” Those were the words of Sevilla coach Unai Emery in his pre-game press conference ahead of the European Super Cup final.

The Spanish coach sees Tuesday’s game as “really demanding” but that absentees in defence for Sevilla should not serve as an excuse against FC Barcelona. “When they have the ball we have to be able to work hard and take advantage of the moments when we are on top, which won’t be much, but we have the players to do that,” according to Emery.

The Sevilla boss also played down the absence of Neymar for the blaugranes because for him “with players like Pedro, Barça potential is still great.”

The players optimistic

Aside from coach Unai Emery, the players Reyes and Coke also appeared before the press in Tbilisi. Both appeared optimistic about their team’s chance despite the respect they have for the current Champions League holders. With regards to their problems at the back, Coke offered himself as a solution: “If I have to play at centre back then I will to help the team because there is a trophy at stake.”
