FC Barcelona will wear new badges on their shirt as five time winners of the Champions League

Two new images will identify the blaugranes as the current Champions League holders

The Barça first team shirts on sale currently at the FCBarcelona official shop have something special about them. The jersey that Barça will use for this season’s Champions League will have some new elements that are sure to delight fans all around the world. After claiming their fifth victory in the competition on 6 June in the Olympiastadion in Berlin, two new insignias on the shirt identify the blaugranes as the current holders. The first is the logo of the European Cup with a 2015 in the centre that goes on the right sleeve.

There is an even bigger change on the left sleeve. The victory over Juventus in the final in Berlin handed FC Barcelona their fifth win in their history in the competition, adding to those of 1992, 2006, 2009 and 2011. This feat means that Barça get to keep the trophy forever and that the Club is permitted to wear an insignia on their shirts that identifies them as a member of an exclusive club of teams who have claimed the trophy on at least five occasions, or have won it on three times in a row. Barça now join a list that includes Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Liverpool and Ajax.

Aside from the two insignias, Barça will continue to wear the ‘Respect’ logo as they have done in recent seasons as part of the UEFA campaign to promote positive values in the game. This will accompany the insignia of the five Champions League wins just below on the left sleeve.

After just a few hours of availability, the new shirt has been very well received by fans visiting the shop at Camp Nou.
