In an intense, top quality match, Porto have won at the Palau Blaugrana to top their European League group with the maximum 12 points, six more than FC Barcelona Lassa with two games to go. Barça are still well poised for a place in the quarter finals, albeit unseeded, most probably against either Oliveirense of Portugal or fellow OK Liga side Liceo La Coruña.

The home side were clearly missing Edu Lamas, who is out with a knee injury, and after a scoreless first half, Reinaldo beat FCB stopper Egurrola in the very first move after the break. It was the Argentinian, who was presented with a gift before the game in honour of his six years on the Barça books, that had also scored the winner when the two sides met earlier on in the group.

Egurrola had his work cut out on Saturday, and after a series of fine saves was beaten for the second time by Gonçalo Alves with thirteen minutes to go.

Barça looked to have bitten back when Lucas Ordoñez scored, but the goal was disallowed for him supposedly striking the ball with his foot. However, the home side did narrow the gap when Xavi Barroso sent a powerful shot from far out straight onto the post. The ball rebounded off the Porto keeper and into the back of the net.

Barça continued pressing for a second in a dramatic endgame, but the task became as good as impossible when Ordoñez was sin-binned, and it all came to a close with a disappointing result for the 1,489 fans in the Palau Blaugrana.
