Intense to the end
Barça played almost the entire game against a ten-man opponent, but that didn’t stop them from working hard for 90 minutes. Even with a 6-0 lead in injury time of the second half, five players rushed back to deal with a two-man counter attack. Dedication, that’s what you need!
Not only did the Uruguayan get a hat trick, but it was a foul on him that brought the early penalty and he also found time to set up an assist for Neymar. 29 goals in 29 games this season – surely there is no better out-and-out striker in world football right now!
Basque-ing in glory
Barça may have stormed to 6-0 victory against Athletic, but none of those goals will count when the teams meet again in the Copa del Rey. But the terrific display on Sunday night was a huge boost for Catalan morale going into the first leg on Wednesday.
Nice from Neymar
The Brazilian was splendid on Sunday night, with a cool chip to beat Herrerín and assists for both Suárez and Rakitic. The way he set up the latter was especially pleasing on the eye, beating five defenders and making the difficult almost look easy!
Sergio the boss
Busquets made the middle of the park his own with the kind of football that gets the purists salivating. Some brilliant touches and intelligent distribution was capped by a wonderful cross onto the head of Suárez to score the sixth goal of the evening.
