Festive gathering at the Meeting of the Penyes of the Illes Balears

The director Pau Vilanova heads the Club’s delegation at events organised by the Supporters Club of Peguera, which brought together about 400 supporters

Pau Vilanova, member of the Board of Directors and Supporters Clubs head, led the FC Barcelona delegation at the XIII Meeting of Supporters Clubs of the Balearic Islands, which took place Friday the 8th of April in Peguera (Calvià-Mallorca) with the organisation of the Penya Barcelonista de Peguera, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary.

The host supporters club, chaired by Sebastián Palmer, the Federation of Supporters Clubs of the Balearic Islands, chaired by Antoni Vallespir, and Town of Calvià, worked together to organise the meeting, which brought together representatives of 28 supporters clubs in the zone including clubs from Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.

Along with Pau Vilanova, other Club representatives included Josep Castellà, member of the Sports Commission; Manel Mangado, Head of the Club’s Internal Auditor; former players and members of the Barça Players Association, Ricardo Serna and Joan Josep Estella, and former basketball players José Luis Galilea, Barça’s AAJB President, and Audie Norris, who played at Barça for six seasons.

Reception at the Town Hall and dinner

The celebrations began at 8.00pm with an official reception in the Town of Calvià between members of supporters clubs of the Balearic Islands, local authorities and representatives of FC Barcelona. Alfonso Rodríguez, Mayor of Calvià, welcomed the attendees and - after a few words of thanks to Pau Vilanova for organising the meeting in which he talked about the great support offered by the Club to the supporters clubs of the Islands - held an exchange of gifts between FC Barcelona and the Town of Calvià.

After the reception, events moved to the Casal Auditori de Peguera, home of the XIII Meeting of FC Barcelona Supporters Clubs of the Balearic Islands, where dinner was held to commemorate the event, which brought together around 400 people who had the opportunity to be photographed next to the three trophies from last season’s treble and who remain optimistic in the face of the challenges presented in the final stretch of the current season.

Before the start of the dinner a minute of silence was observed in memory of Johan Cruyff and then a memorial video was played. The event ended with speeches and prizes, as well as a draw for several Barça shirts signed by the players in the squad.
