Robert Fernández: Another attacker will join

During Lucas Digne’s presentation, the club’s technical secretary fielded various questions from the press about the transfer market

Lucas Digne was presented in front of the media on Thursday, which also allowed the opportunity for technical secretary Robert Fernández to respond to several questions about the rest of the summer transfer window.

Digne is Barça’s third transfer of the summer, following Denis Suarez and Samuel Umtiti. After Dani Alves’ departure to Juventus, Robert Fernández said there was no need to sign another right-back.

“We have Aleix Vidal and Sergio Roberto, and buying another player (in that position) would be excessive. We have a lot faith in them,” he said, before adding that buying a left-back in Digne was a “necessity”.

One area where the club is keen to strengthen is up front, as Roberto confirmed that “an attacker will join”, taking a number of factors including age.

“We are analyzing it and we will not delay in deciding what we will do, which will be the best for the Club”.

On the topic of the two goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Robert Fernández said: “We will fight to keep both goalkeepers. We have two extraordinary keepers, which is why this situation (of interest from other clubs) is arising.”

Finally, Robert Fernández was asked about Leo Messi where he responded by saying: “Vacations are for resting, and the player wants peace and quiet, not to be checking his phone.”
