The FC Barcelona first team are almost all together again. The bulk of the players that were at Euro 2016 and the Copa America were back at work today, some of them cutting short their vacations in order to get ready in time for what promises to be yet another gruelling season – as they always are at Barça!
There were both morning and evening workouts for Luis Enrique’s charges today. Ter Stegen, Bravo, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio, Iniesta, Mascherano, Jordi Alba and Vermaelen were all back on the training ground in the earlier session, as was Douglas, who had already met up with his team-mates in Dublin.
But for the later shift, held on pitch 2 at the Ciutat Esportiva, only the ten recent arrivals were required to report for duty, the intention being for them to regain their peak fitness as quickly as possible.
The same plan will be implemented tomorrow Tuesday. The full squad will be exercising in the morning, but the 6.30pm session will again only feature the ten players that have just returned from their holidays.
