Agreement on transfer of Petteri Koponen

Finnish guard to leave BC Khimki and sign a contract for the next three seasons

The FC Barcelona Lassa basketball section has reached a settlement with BC Khimki of Russia for the transfer of 28-year-old guard Petteri Koponen to the Catalan club. The 1.94 m tall Finn will play at Barça for the next three seasons.

Koponen passed his medical on Tuesday morning and will report for training on August 22, the date set for the beginning of the first team preseason programme.

Koponen started out at Tapiolan Honka in his home country and in 2007 was a 30th place pick in the NBA draft for the Philadelphia 76ers. From 2008 to 2012, he was at Virtus Bologna in Italy and from there went to BC Khimki, where he has spent the last four years.

He has played 87 European matches, his career highlight being victory in the 2015 Eurocup alongside Tyrese Rice. He was named in the all-start team for that competition after averaging 13.5 points, 3.3 assists and a 45% 3-point conversion rate.
