Luis Suárez: Messi is a beast

The Uruguayan heaps praise on his strike partner Leo Messi while Denis and Busquets also provide post-match thoughts

Luis Suárez began the 2016/17 season the same way he ended the previous one, with lethal finishing in front of goal.

The Uruguayan, who was the top marksman in La Liga last year, scored a hat-trick against Real Betis on the opening day of the campaign in Barça’s 6-2 win.

Speaking to the press after the game, Suárez heaped praise on his strike partner Leo Messi for a scintillating performance, describing him as “a beast” and “the best player in the world”.

Suárez said that “a team like Barça is always a favourite for the league title,” before adding that the team must “demonstrate it because we were champions last year”.

Denis Suárez

After rejoining the club from Villarreal in the summer, Denis Suárez enjoyed an accomplished first team debut in centre-midfield. Speaking of his experience, the Spaniard said “Barça’s football is adapting my style”.

Analysing his first match, Denis highlighted “the quick pressing of the team after losing the ball” as a key factor in the win, as well as giving high praise to Luis Suárez and Leo Messi: “They are the two best players in the world”.

Sergio Busquets

The ever-dependable Sergio Busquets was also happy with the team’s start to the season, saying that if they follow the gameplan, they know “the goals will come”, before also praising the hat-trick hero as “the best centre-forward in the world”.
