Jasper Cillessen joins FC Barcelona

Dutch goalkeeper takes medical at the club on Thursday and to be officially presented to fans and media on Friday

FC Barcelona has decided to purchase 27 year old Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Ajax Amsterdam on a five-year contract.

The transfer fee is a guaranteed 13 million euros plus a further two million in variables. Cillessen’s buyout clause has been set at 60 million euros.

The player arrived in Barcelona this morning and after taking a medical examination, he signed his new contract in private.

He will be officially presented as an FC Barcelona tomorrow Friday. The schedule of events is as follows (all times CET):

11.00 am: Private welcome for the player by president Josep Maria Bartomeu in the presidential box at Camp Nou.

11.30 am: Photo session on the Camp Nou pitch. The general public will be allowed into the stadium to view the session from the terraces, from 11.00 to 12.00.

12.30pm: Media conference in Ricard Maxenchs pressroom, where the player will be joined by vice-president for sport Jordi Mestre, director of professional sports Albert Soler and technical secretary Robert Fernández.
