Paco Alcácer 'thrilled' to join FC Barcelona

The final addition to the 2016/17 squad speaks to Barça TV about his move from Valencia and the promise of 'big things' at the Camp Nou

The striker that FC Barcelona were after in order to complete the squad for the 2016/17 season is here! Paco Alcácer has arrived at the Camp Nou from Valencia on a five-year contract and after passing his medical he spoke exclusively to the Barça TV cameras about what the move means to him.

“I’m happy to be here at such a big club” said the Spain international. “I am here to provide hard work, humility and professionalism.” And he’s also promising what is required most of a player in his position – goals. “Forwards live for goals and I hope I’m lucky in that respect” he says. “I want to offer my grain of sand by doing good things at Barça.”

Familiar faces

The 22 year old adds that “coming here is a huge thrill – I’ll find it easy to adapt because I already know some of the team.” Alcácer shared a dressing room with André Gomes, Jordi Alba and Jérémy Mathieu at Valencia and has played in the Spanish national team alongside the likes of Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué.

But all three of the trident will be new to him. “Messi, Neymar and Suárez are the three best players in the world” he says of his future strike-partners. “It will be a privilege to play next to them.”
