The squad for Lyon

Ernesto Valverde has called up 21 players to face the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg tie

The Champions League returns, and Ernesto Valverde's team will face Bruno Génésio's Lyon on Tuesday at 9.00pm CET. The coach has called up 21 players for the trip to France:

Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Coutinho, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Malcom, Lenglet, Murillo, Jordi Alba, Prince, S. Roberto, Vidal, Umtiti, Aleñá, Iñaki Peña, Jokin Ezkieta and Wague.

Todibo and Samper are left out, while Arthur, Rafinha, Cillessen and Vermaelen are injured. For this competition only, Carles Aleñá will continue to wear the number 26.

Umtiti in but Vermaelen is out

On Sunday the team returned to training after the victory against Valladolid at the Camp Nou (1-0). The session, on the Tito Vilanova pitch of the Ciutat Esportiva, included the players available from the first team as well as Iñaki Peña, Wague and Collado from Barça B.

Some good news came with the medical discharge of Samuel Umtiti, while Thomas Vermaelen is out because of a muscle overload on his right leg. The evolution of that injury will condition his future availability. On Monday morning, the team will be heading for Lyon, where they will train at the Groupama Stadium at 7.00pm CET.
