Barça Lassa – HC Meshkov Brest: Ninth consecutive victory in Europe! (41-32)

Xavi Pascual’s side were too good for the Belarusian team and they remain as solo leaders of Group A with 18 points

Barça Lassa beat Meshkov Brest (41-32) at the Palau Blaugrana in the last match of the European competition in 2018, and they will end the year as leader of Group A of the Champions League.

Great start

Xavi Pascual’s side raced into a 3-0 lead that forced the coach of the visiting team, Manolo Cadenas, to call for an early time out. Great defence and solid attack hampered the offensiveness of the Belarusians, and saw the Blaugranes ease further ahead (7-1).

Brest eventually found more alternatives in attack and came roaring back (10-7), however, led by Tomás, Barca Lassa were always ahead and went in at the break five points to the good (22-17).

Power

The second half began in the same manner as the first. A 3-0 lead, led by Fabregas and Dika Mem, increased the difference (25-17) for the hosts, but even so, the visitors responded again (26-22). In the final stretch, Tomás, with four goals from the last eight of his team, ensured a ninth consecutive European win.
