Bidasoa Irun – FC Barcelona Lassa: Patience brings another landmark (26-35)

The blaugranes take control in the second period to record an 102nd straight win in the league with Lazarov scoring goal number 25,000 for Barça in the Asobal League

FC Barcelona Lassa handball put the defeat against PSG in the Champions League behind them to record an important win against a combative Bidasoa team in Irun. The nine point win over the Basque side was the blaugranes 102nd successive victory in the Asobal League and they remain top of the table thanks to their 100% record in the competition.

Tight early on

Against recently promoted opposition, the first half was hard fought in Irun. Xavi Pascual's team managed a maximum advantage of just 3 goals in the first half when they went 12-9 up in the 21st minute. At that moment, with N'Guessan and Lazarov striking the posts, Bidasoa fought back and leveled things at 12-12.

Lazarov and 25,000

Barça fought back ahead with an historic goal. Kiril Lazarov, with just a minute left in the half, made the score 14-13 to the blaugranes and in doing so scored the Club's 25,000th goal in the Asobal League. Victor Tomás joined the party and his effort allowed Barça to lead 15-13 at the break.

Moving up a gear

The blaugranes moved things up a notch in the second half, an effort from Jallouz making it 23-17 with 40 minutes gone. Another from the Tunisian and efforts from Noddesbo and Valero Rivera saw that lead increase to 26-18.

Lazarov's five goals in the second half and Gonzalo's security in goal spelt the end for Bidasoa with Entrerríos putting the visitors nine ahead (32-23) before Jallouz made it a 10 point lead. The game ended with a 35-26 win for Xavi Pascual's side and another historic evening for the record books.
