FC Barcelona Lassa 26-23 SG Flensburg-Handewitt: Gonzalo lays down the law

Seventeen saves from the home goalie are the key to an impressive victory against the Germans, and it all means that Barça stay two points clear of PSG

The FC Barcelona Lassa handball team has hung onto its 100 per cent record at the Palau Blaugrana in Europe with af fine victory against a Flensburg side that trailed all game against a solid and decisive home unit. Defence was certainly one of the key factors behind this win, Valero’s four goals being the best tally for FCB, and the hero of the day was very much Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, who received a standing ovation for his 17 saves.

With eleven wins in in twelve games in the Champions League group stage, Barça Lassa are still top of the group, but with Paris Saint Germain just two points behind, they have yet to clinch that place definitively and thus ensure a bye direct into the quarter finals.

That will be decided in the last two games, a visit to Kiel and a home fixture against Wisla Plock.
