Barça mount a strong second half comeback, but home keeper Corrales is the key to the Hungarians hanging on
Barça have lost for the first time in the current EHF Champions League (29-28) against a fine Veszprém side who built up a strong early lead that the Catalans were on the verge of cancelling out but ran out of time. The home side’s goalkeeper Corrales played a huge part in ensuring the first blaugrana defeat in this competition since 14 September 2019.
It was a game where both defences outshone their opposing attacks. But though it was low-scoring there was no lack of intensity from either side.
The Hungarians led by four at the break, but a 5-1 streak in favour of Barça almost changed everything. The remainder of the game was as tight as tight can be, but in the end Veszprém were able to sneak it by a single goal.
