Xavi Pascual collect first Champions League points with a big win against their Slovenian guests

Barça won comfortably in the first European fixture of the season at the Palau Blaugrana, 45-21 against Slovenian outfit Celje Pivovarna Lasko. The first points of the Champions League campaign were achieved with Luka Cindric leading the way with eight goals, and Victor Tomàs and Ludovic Fabregas contributing five each.

After losing to Szeged of Hungary in the first game, the players knew how important it was to make sure of a win here, and they did it by the express route, flying to 17-8 early on and 21-13 up at the break.

The Slovenes pushed hard to get back into the game, but Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas was on fine form in goal and a series of turnovers in the midcourt produced a sensational 11-0 streak that totally killed the game. Barça were in full flow and eventually cruised to a morale-boosting victory.
