FC Barcelona Women managed a solid 3-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday evening to remain in contention for the title.
Barça started on the front foot, creating the game’s first chance after just seven minutes when a cross fell for Marta Torrejón who was unable to direct under the crossbar. Vicky Losada and Andressa Alves also went close soon after.
The opener deservedly came on 34 minutes when Miriam’s cross was dispatched with class by Patri.
After the break, Barça emerged with the same attacking intent. Despite an avalanche of efforts, the team were forced to be patient until the 88th minute for Alves to notch in the goal that made it 2-0.
And two minutes later, in injury time, Marta Unzué was on hand to add a third to secure a win which leaves Xavi Llorens’ side four points behind leaders Atlético Madrid and still in the hunt for the title.
