Barça 2-0 Eintracht de Frankfurt: Champions League group stage winners

The blaugranes make it five wins out of five to confirm top spot in UEFA Women's Champions League Group A

Five wins out of five in the UEFA Women's CL group stage, and this latest 2-0 victory for FC Barcelona at home to Eintracht Frankfurt confirms their place as group winners with one game to spare.

The home fans at Estadi Johan Cruyff provided great support for the team as always - a welcome boost as Frankfurt were organised and provided a tough test throughout the game - and they also showed their appreciation when Aitana, Bronze and Walsh presented their "The Best" awards pre-match.

Patri breaks the deadlock

The blaugranes began by dominating possession as usual, but it was the visitors who had the first big chance, Cata flying out of goal to deny Anyomi, with Irene Paredes getting back to save the follow up (min. 15).

It wasn't long before the deadlock was broken, however, with the Barça almost scoring before good pressure saw the ball recovered and passed to Patri to slot into the far right corner from the edge of the box (1-0, min. 19). The search for a second then commenced, but the well-organised German side saw the game out to half time, so it remained 1-0.

Second goal seals the win

The blaugranes continued the hunt for a second to make the game more comfortable after the restart, resulting in Lucy Bronze hitting the post (min.48), before Graham Hansen was thwarted by the visiting keeper (min.50). Freigang then showed her side were not just here to defend, her shot whistling past Cata Coll's right post (min. 56).

This seemed to spur on Eintracht Frankfurt, who were creating more chances to go with their defensive cohesion, but much to delight of the home fans, the vital second goal came as Caroline Graham Hansen made the most of a minimal amount of space and her huge talent to fire into the left side of the goal, again from the edge of the box (2-0, min. 74).

Ona Batlle almost scored a third, but Bosl made a great block (min. 83). The two goals proved enough, however, and the perfect group stage record was maintained with first place confirmed to boot.
