Camp Nou to honour award-winning women

Sandra Paños, Irene Paredes, Jenni Hermoso and Alèxia Putellas, who all collected prizes at Thursday's UEFA gala, will be appearing on the field before the men's game with Getafe

After sweeping the awards at Thursday’s UEFA gala, the winning members of the women’s team will be appearing on the Camp Nou field in the build-up to the men’s game against Getafe on Sunday at 5.00pm CEST. They’ll be appearing before the fans about 15 minutes before the game kicks off.

Members of Barça’s women’s team took all the prizes at the ceremony Sandra Paños was best goalkeeper; Irene Paredes was best defender (for her performances at PSG, though she has since moved to Barça); Jenni Hermoso was best forward and Alèxia Putellas was both best midfielder and the overall Women’s Player of the Year.

It’s been an absolutely fabulous year for women’s sport at the club, and there will be a further tribute to be paid as triple jumper Yulimar Rojas takes the honorary kick-off after winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics following a leap that knocked no fewer than 17 cm off the previous world record.

The game will also be preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of all the club’s members and fans that have been lost as a result of the pandemic
