Espanyol 0-4 Barça Women

Espanyol 0-4 Barça Women

Jenni Hermoso (2), Marta Torrejón and Vicky Losada score for the league leaders in a surprisingly one-sided derby

A convincing win in the derby at Espanyol on Saturday saw Jenni Hermoso score twice to maintain her staggering record of scoring in every league game she has played so far, 15 goals in 11 games. Marta and Vikki Losada added one each to ensure the blaugrana women stay top of the league table for at least another week.

Barça were intense from the start, and could have led even earlier had Marta Torrejón not had a goal disallowed for an earlier incident. Graham and Melanie supplied the assists later in the half for Hermoso to keep her goalscoring spree going.

Rarely has a game between these two teams been so one-side. Paños had next to nothing to do in goal, and Barça hit the woodwork twice before the goals started coming again. Marta finally scored with five minutes to go, after coming close so many times, and Losada’s came on as a sub to head in the fourth in stoppage time.

Next up it’s back to the Estadi Johan Cruyff and a game with Granadilla Egatesa.
