València 0-4 Barça: Attacking brilliance

On a weekend that Atlético dropped points the league lead is stretched with a marvellous road win

Barça romped to victory on Saturday at Valencia, with 90 minutes of brilliance resulting in a 4-0 victory. Alexia twice plus Hermoso and Mariona got the goals and there was a further boosts with the news that Atlético Madrid had been held by Real Betis, meaning the Catalans are now three points clear at the top of the table.

Jenni Hermoso’s headed opener was a beauty, and with 12 goals in total she has further extended her extraordinary record of scoring at least once in every game she has featured.

Caroline Graham had agreed that the slightest niggle and she would be coming off as a precautionary measure, and that happened, with Alexia scoring the blaugrana second just before the break.

More of that in the second half, with Martens and Oshoala only adding to the excellence as the game progressed, with Alexia nodding in her second headed goal of the day, and Mariona poking in the fourth with a well-placed finish.

Next up for Barça is Real Betis, the very side that has just done them a huge favour by taking points of Atlético.
