The Reus-born player further demonstrated his rise by scoring the goal that made it 2-0 against Liechtenstein

Sergi Roberto opened his international account on Monday during Spain’s 8-0 win over Liechtenstein, in Julen Lopetegui’s first official match as the national team manager.

The Barça man, who started the game at right full-back, displayed his excellent form and versatility, proving to be one of the best players in the match.

During the game, Lopetegui rearranged his system from a 4-3-3 to a 3-4-3, allowing Roberto a more attacking role which bore fruit. On minute 55, Roberto latched onto Nolito’s through pass and the Barça player poked the ball through the keeper’s legs.

Roberto has seen a meteoric rise in recent times, become an important player for FC Barcelona under Luis Enrique and has started the season brightly.

After converting to a right-back from midfield, the boy from Reus continues to show that he is a complete players with his latest showing for Spain.
