Gabriel Jesus makes FC Barcelona debut
Another name for the Barça history books. Gabriel Jesus has made his FC Barcelona debut, playing the closing minutes of the emphatic 5-0 win at Mestalla that leaves the Catalans alone at the top of the table.
The Brazilian came on for Pedri in the 81st minute with Barça already 4-0 up, and had time to celebrate the fifth goal and almost score his first as a Barça player.
First minutes to find his feet
The Barça number 9 could hardly have asked for a better situation in which to make his debut, with the game already under control and plenty of space to get involved and build confidence.
Indeed, in the move immediately after Lamine Yamal had made it 5-0, Gabriel Jesus tried his luck from the edge of the area, sending his effort just wide of Dimitrievski's right-hand post.
He had Lamine Yamal and Raphinha available for the pass, but with the result already beyond doubt, he understandably went looking for his first Barça goal. His team-mates certainly didn't mind, greeting him with high fives afterwards.
The goal will come. For now, the debut is already in the bag. And it was a very promising first taste of life in blaugrana.
