Three points to win La Liga
FC Barcelona need one more win to secure a 26th Liga title and the eighth in just eleven seasons. In fact, they could already have become champions this Wednesday had Atlético Madrid lost to Valencia in a gripping encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano, but the side in second place managed to win 3-2 to leave the champagne, or in this case cava, on hold.
But three points from Saturday’s game with Levante at the Camp Nou at 8.45pm CET would confirm the Catalans mathematically as champions, although they would already be guaranteed that honour if Simeone and co lose to Valladolid in the 4.15pm CET kick-off at the Wanda earlier in the day.
If Atlético draw, then a Barça draw would be enough to clinch the trophy – and of course, the blaugrana still have three games to come after that, so it would take an extraordinarily brave man indeed to bet against the trophy eventually coming our way!
And the Champions League and Copa del Rey trophies are still up for grabs as well… Happy, happy days!
