Terrassa vs Barça B: Vitinho's blockbuster not enough for Copa progression (2-1)

Terrassa vs Barça B: Vitinho's blockbuster not enough for Copa progression (2-1)

Two goals in three minutes from the hosts settled this exciting end-to-end encounter

A day after hosting Girona, Gerard López and his Barça B side travelled to Terrassa for the second round of the Copa Catalunya. An open game for the most part, the first real chance fell to the visitors after 20 minutes, Marc Cardona just straying offside as he finished off Vitinho’s slide-rule pass.

Shortly after, the woodwork was rattled by Abel Ruiz Ortega prompting the hosts to respond with some pressure of their own. Barça were indebted to their keeper, Jokin Ezkieta, for keeping the game goalless on the half-hour, a smart full-length stop down to his right enough to repel Terrassa’s attacking threat.

The second half followed much the same pattern until Vitinho’s spectacular direct free-kick on 65 minutes deservedly put the away side into the lead. David Toro (71) and Daisuke (74) turned the match on its head, a three-minute comeback enough to seal a place in the next round for the home side.
