FC Barcelona B - Sporting de Gijón: A victory to break the streak (2-1)

After eight matches without winning, the Blaugrana took the three points thanks to goals from Aleñá and Arnaiz

Barça B worked hard for their win against Sporting (2-1), which arrived thanks to goals from Aleñá and Arnaiz who remain as the top scorers in the team with six goals each. The blaugrana broke their streak of eight games without winning (five draws and three defeats) in front of Ernesto Valverde, who was at the Miniestadi to cast an eye over Gerard Lopez’s side.

Dominant first half

Just 14 minutes in, Aleñá fired Barça B ahead after controlling a rebound in the area. The hosts were dominant and controlling the match, and had other chances to score before Arnaiz doubled the advantage (minute 37, 2-0). Choco Lozano, after good combination play with Cucurella, almost added a third just before the break but Mariño was equal to his effort.

Cruise control

The second half began with a double opportunity for Barça but Mariño saved with his feet from Aleñá before Concha fired the rebound wide. Almost immediately, Sporting made them pay, Alex Pérez reducing the deficit (2-1, minute 50).

Barça were always in control of possession but were unable to add to the score. Sporting’s best chance came late through Santos, but he was off target.
