FC Barcelona B 0-2 Gimnàstic Tarragona: Defeat at the Johan Cruyff

No reply to two first half goals means the reserves suffer home defeat in the Catalan derby

Barça B got off to a bad start against their fellow Catalans from Tarragona, conceding two first half goals, and despite some great football in the second half were unable to make amends and salvage anything from Saturday’s game

The game at the Estadi Johan Cruyff was pulsating from the word go, and both sides had already had chances before Arnau Comas found the net after 11 minutes but was denied an offside call. Instead, just minutes later it was Javi Bonilla who scored for the opposition.

With Ez Abde especially active, the Barça reserves pushed long and hard in search of an equaliser only to see Trillas head in a corner to extend Gimnàstic’s lead

Jandro and Ilias Akhomach both had impact when they came on for the second half, and Barça B truly deserved to get something out of their persistent attacking and dominance of the midfield. Matheus Pereira had the best of many chances but as the game drew on, they found themselves up against what was practically a nine-man defence and although Ferran Jutglà, Ez Abde and Aranda all managed to find a way through, they failed to find the net and come out of this game with nothing to show for their efforts.
