Barça B versus Alcoyano always promised to be a tight match, and that’s exactly what it was. Neither was able to score at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and hence stay tied in the table on 13 points each.
The first half was almost total deadlock between the teams. The visiting defence was nigh on impossible to get through, and Rodado has what may be deemed the only real opportunity of the first 45 minutes.
Things did open a bit after the restart, albeit not much. The most golden chance of all was the outcome of a brilliant piece of play between Guillem Jaime and Jutglà, but the ball ended up hitting the post.
Barça received a boost when a red card reduced Aloyano to ten men, but they were unable to make superiority in numbers count. They pushed hard but this will be a game best remembered for two men, Iñaki Peña and José Juan, the respective goalkeepers, who to a large extent are the reason why it ended as it had begun.
