Two European titles

Two European titles

Women's football and handball teams have achieved Barça's eighth continental double

For the eighth time in club history, the 2020/21 season saw FC Barcelona’s professional teams being crowned European champions in two different sports. This season it happened thanks to the women’s football team, who won the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever, and the men’s handball team, who won their tenth EHF Champions League

These were the seven previous occasions.

  • 1996/97. Handball and rink hockey
  • 1999/00. Handball and rink hockey
  • 2004/05. Handball and rink hockey
  • 2009/10. Basketball and rink hockey
  • 2010/11. Men’s football and handball
  • 2013/14. Rink hockey and futsal
  • 2014/15. Men’s football, handball and rink hockey

2014/15 was particularly spectacular because Barça were crowned European champions in an unprecedented three different competitions.

Record equalling four finals

This season, FC Barcelona also made it to the basketball EuroLeague Final and to the final of the UEFA Futsal Champions League, but failed to come home with the trophy. That equals the feat of 2014/15, when in addition to the three titles, the futsal team also made it into the final.

The handball victory at the weekend was FC Barcelona was the 43rd European title, with all five of the professional teams having contributed to this impressive haul of continental silverware.
