President Bartomeu at the UEFA Club Competitions Committee meeting

The second meeting of the season of the agency that decides the format of European club competitions

On Monday in Nyon (Switzerland), the president of FC Barcelona, ​​Josep Maria Bartomeu, took part in the UEFA Club Competitions Committee meeting. This was the first meeting of the year, and the second of the season, for the body that manages club competitions and of which Bartomeu is the vice president, and has been part of since November 2016.

During the meeting, various topics that could directly affect the format and operation of continental club competitions were discussed, such as Financial Fair Play, the new 2021-2024 cycle, which will incorporate a third competition, the UEFA Conference League, and the follow-up on preparations for this season's finals in Istanbul (UEFA Champions League) and Gdansk, Poland (UEFA Europa League). Those present at the meeting also continued prior discussions on the future of European competitions, starting in 2024.

Beforehand, Bartomeu participated in a meeting for the Board of Directors of the UCC SA; a subsidiary company of UEFA jointly created by UEFA and ECA, the European Club Association, and which aims to advise on business opportunities in European competitions. Together with the president of FC Barcelona, Ed Woodward, CEO of Manchester United, and Michael Gerlinger, legal director of Bayern Munich are part of the governing body of this company, among others.
