FC Barcelona Lassa 100-76 Obradoiro: Confidence booster

After the disappointing Euroleague loss in Germany, a convincing win like this is was just what the team needed to raise morale

FC Barcelona Lassa powered to a convincing 100-76 victory against Obradoiro to maintain their one hundred per cent record at the Palau Blaugrana in league play. That makes it two wins out of two in the ACB since the year started, with offensive pressure and accurate shooting the key to a fine performance.

Juan Carlos Navarro was inspired in the first period and his 12 points helped build up an early lead that never faded (30-22).

Whittington led the fightback for the visitors, but Barça held their ground and started stretching their advantage to the extent that they were +15 by the interval (55-40).

Obradoiro didn’t give up hope and seemed to find new strength after the restart. But Barça Lassa reacted quickly and points from Rice and Doellman soon recuperated the more than promising lead.

Navarro’s return to court inspired a flow of 3-pointers from the home side, and the game slipped further and further from Obradoiro’s grasp. Barça’s defence did nothing but improve, to the extent that the visitors’ scoring dropped with each successive period and with a couple of minutes left, a Vezenkov three established the biggest gap so far (95-70).

From then on it was simply a question of playing down the clock, and the 100-76 win was no less than the home side deserved.
