Some sad news from the world of basketball. FC Barcelona player in the 1990/91 season and International Basketball Federation Hall of Famer José 'Piculín' Ortiz has passed away at the age of 62 years old.
The Puerto Rican centre featured in blaugrana for a season alongside legends such as Juan Antonio San Epifanio 'Epi', Nacho Solozábal, Audie Norris and Andrés Jiménez, among others, in a side coached by Bozidar Maljkovic.
In addition to Barça, 'Piculín' Ortiz played for CAI Saragossa (1987-88), Utah Jazz (1988-90), Real Madrid (1990), Festina Andorra (1992-93) and Unicaja Polti (1993-94), among other teams.
He featured at four different Olympic Games and joined the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2019.
