Bayern 90-77 Barça: Third quarter condemns blaugranes to defeat

Barça went down to defeat in Germany losing 90-77 to Bayern Munich in their final game of 2020. The home side's great third quarter helped them overcome a Barça side who had started the better in the Euroleague encounter. 

Good start from the blaugranes 

Abrines and Smits from the three point line gave Barça a +7 lead in the opening minutes with Saras Jasikevicius' team getting off to an excellent start against their German opposition. Bayern came back after the blaugranes' initial dominance and the Munich side trailed just 26-22 at the end of the first quarter. Barça maintained their lead in the second quarter and despite Baldwin's excellent shooting for the home side, Barça led 45-43 at half time. 

Home side comeback 

Bayern started the second half strongly with eight unanswered points to take the lead. From then on, Barça were playing catch up and the home side pressed home their advantage in an impressive third quarter that ended with Bayern 15 points up at 70-55. In the final quarter the blaugranes held their own but with Bayern consistent from the three point line, there was no way back for Barça and they ended 2020 with a 90-77 defeat in Munich in the Euroleague.
