Barça - CSKA: Unbeaten home run ends (67-96)

The Blaugrana lose to the reigning Euroleague champions, suffering their first home defeat of the season

FC Barcelona were beaten at the Palau Blaugrana for the first time this season on Friday night, losing 67-96 to CSKA Moscow in Week 11 of the Euroleague campaign. Mirotic and Davies were Barça's top scorers, with 19 points each.

On the back foot early

After an even start to the game, CSKA pulled away with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Dimitrios Itoudis led the way for CSKA, and the reigning European champions put together 51 points to Barça's 31 by the end of the first half.

No reaction from Barça

In the second half, Barça were unable to mount a comeback. The 13-point advantage was increased to 50-76 on 30 minutes, and as a result they were playing catch-up going into the final quarter. Trying to minimise the damage, they could not find a way back into the contest. The game ended 67-96, leaving Barça with an 8-3 record in the Euroleague this season.

Mirotic and Davies the top scorers

Mirotic was the only Barça player with a positive percentage from outside, scoring two 3-pointers, whilst Davies helped carry the weight of the scoring. Both racked up 19 points in an off-night for the team, who return to action against Iberostar Tenerife on Sunday at 8pm CET in the domestic league.
