Real Madrid 86-76 Barça: Defeat in the first European Clásico

Los Blancos take the victory in a match that was tight until the very end

Despite fighting to the end, the Blaugrana ended up losing to Real Madrid in the first European clásico of the season (86-76). In spite of the bad start, a great second quarter gave Pesic's side hope, but victory at the WiZink Center eluded them.

The game didn't start in the best way with Real racing into a 15-0 lead, and even though Barça got on the score board thereafter, by the end of the first quarter, the score was 32-14 in favour of the hosts.

Barça reaction

Little by little Barça got back into the game. Five straight points from Tomic as well as two great triples from Delaney and Kuric got the visitors to back within two points (37-35). Two consecutive baskets from Hanga and Mirotic then saw Barça go ahead (46-48), an advantage that they wouldn't lose until the break (48-50).

The third quarter saw a 13-0 partial from Real, and this time the blaugrana couldn't come back. By full-time, and despite the Barça players still putting in a shift, the final score was 86-76.
