Anadolu Efes 64-74 Barça: Fine start to the Euroleague

Istanbul is never an easy place to go, but the blaugrana got their continental campaign off to a winning start

A win at Anadolu Efes (64-74) marked the perfect start to the Euroleague campaign. Nikola Mirotic (24 pts) excelled as Barça got a lot of things very right indeed in Istanbul.

The game was tight early on, with Barça edging it by three at the end of the first period (14-19) and 3-pointers from Delaney and Oriola boosted the lead to 16-25 after the restart. Davies powered the team to +13, and the home side only cut that margin by two come the interval (26-37).

But although Barça went +16 in the third, five almost consecutive threes from Anadolu Efes totally changed the game and we were going into the final period with everything still to play for (46-49).

Barça finally got their shooting back again and a 0-7 streak re-established a decent margin, and with Mirotic finding his A-game when it was needed most, the Turks barely got a look in and Barça could celebrate a solid road win.

Back to the Liga ACB on Sunday at 8.00pm CET and a game against MoraBanc Andorra.
