At Monday afternoon’s ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors, the board praised a series of actions from throughout the season that were aimed at paying tribute to one of the Club’s biggest milestones — its very first European cup title, which it achieved at Wembley Stadium in 1992.

The Board expressed its gratitude to everyone who helped make possible the season-long tribute, whose final event was the “Return to Wembley” festival held at Camp Nou on June 10th, which starred the very same players who helped bring that first European Cup to Barcelona 25 years ago.

To show thanks, the Club also released a special commemoration video compiling all the actions and events that were carried out from the beginning of the 2016/17 season with the aim of highlighting the importance of the moment that forever changed the history FC Barcelona.

The Club implemented a plethora of campaigns and events designed to pay tribute to that magical season, including the following:

  • The design of this season’s official jersey, which was inspired by the shirt the team wore during that famous 1991/92 season
  • The August 10th Joan Gamper Trophy game against Sampdoria, the same club Barça defeated in the 1992 final at Wembley
  • The design of the 2017 members identification card
  • The “share your memories” campaign, aimed at getting members to share their personal effects from that historic final and to put them on display in the FCB Museum’s Wembley Exhibit, which also opened this season and which will remain open through September 30th
  • The #Wembley25 campaign on social media
  • The ‘Minut 111’ game show for supporters clubs on Barça TV
  • The institutional event celebrated in the Auditori 1899 on May 20th to present the end of season tribute events
  • The commemorative logo on the first team shirt
  • The tribute dinner held in honor of the heroes of Wembley and their families
  • The Samitier Forum Wembley 25 on June 7th, 8th, and 9th
  • The “Return to Wembley” festival at Camp Nou on June 10th
