The signing of Jérémy Mathieu and his presentation as a new FC Barcelona player, the return of the eight internationals to training after the World Cup, the 2014/15 La Liga schedule, and the agreement to transfer Bojan Krkic to Stoke City are a few of the most relevant stories of the week at FC Barcelona.

Jérémy Mathieu, Barça’s new center back: On Wednesday the Club announced the signing of of the Frenchman. Mathieu passed his medical on Thursday morning and was officially presented that afternoon. On Friday, he trained with his new teammates.


26-man squad named for England tour: On Friday, Luis Enrique revealed the names of the players he’s taking on the six-day England tour. The team will be made up of 18 first team players and 8 Barça B players. The only first team player not named to the team is Adriano Correia.

La Liga 2014/15 schedule set: On Thursday the RFEF revealed the schedule for the upcoming La Liga season. Elche will be Barça’s first rival, at the Camp Nou. Barça B will make its debut away to Osasuna.

Eight internationals return to training: Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Pedro Rodríguez – Spain internationals – Ivan Rakitic – Croatia – and Alex Song – Cameroon – returned to training.

Josep Maria Bartomeu visits with the players: The president of FC Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, and Football Director, Andoni Zubizarreta, visited with the team before the morning training session on Friday.

Agreement with Stoke City for Bojan: The Catalan forward leaves Barça for the Premier League after the Club and Stoke City agree to terms for the player’s services.

Ferrao signs for Barça’s futsal team: The Brazilian becomes the second signing of the summer for Marc Carmona’s team. The first signing was Rafa Usín.

Barça present at Deco’s testimonial match: Barça 2006 and Porto 2004 faced off at the Do Dragao to pay tribute to the former FC Barcelona midfielder. Leo Messi featured in the game and Director Pau Vilanova awarded Deco with a commemorative plaque
