“Following yesterday’s events in which one person was killed and several were injured as a result of a confrontation between supporters of Atlético Madrid and Deportivo, FC Barcelona wishes to express its absolute rejection of any act of violence in the world of sport and of football in particular.
In this regard, on Sunday, the club contacted the Secretary of State for Sport, the Professional Football League and the Spanish Football Federation to make its opinion heard and to offer to collaborate in any way necessary with the eradication of violence in association to sport to ensure that events like those on Sunday never happen again.
FC Barcelona has always taken a zero tolerance attitude to violence in sport and adds its name to the many expressions of condolence for the victim of the incidents in Madrid.
