Barça’s handball and futsal teams both recorded good wins on Saturday, whilst the roller hockey and basketball sides suffered defeat.

Success for handball and futsal teams

Barça’s handball section celebrated the 70th anniversary of their founding with their fifth win of the season in Europe, beating Dynamo Minsk 35-25 at the Palau to stay top of Group C after five wins and a draw.

In front of nearly two and half thousand fans, Saric put in another dominating performance, helping keep the visitors scoreless for the first ten minutes. After taking a four goal advantage in at the break, Pascual's team then upped their game in the second half and with Noddesbro (6)and Juanin(5) leading the scorers, ran out clear winners to give the fans really happy anniversary to celebrate.

The Club’s futsal team also had a successful Saturday, qualifying for April’s UEFA Futsal Cup Final Four for the third season on the trot with a 4-1 win over Chrudim in the Czech Republic. Fernadao(2), Wilde and Igor scored for Barça Alusport in the win.

Roller hockey and basketball sides lose

The Club’s roller hockey team didn’t enjoy such success though, going down 6-3 to Porto in Group C of the European League. An early hat trick by Ricardo Oliveira gave Porto an early lead they never gave up, with Reinaldo and Moreira’s goals for Barça not enough to stop Porto from winning and taking top spot in the group.

The Barça basketball side also went down to defeat on Saturday, losing 77-60 to the struggling  Río Natura Monbus de Santiago de Compostela in the Liga Endesa. Xavi Pascual’s side had gone in level at the break, but a disastrous second half handed them their second successive league defeat ahead of next Friday’s Euroleague game against Fenerbahçe Ulker at the Palau.
