Seven FC Barcelona players - Piqué, Iniesta, Thiago, Busquets, Adriano and Mascherano - watched Nike’s ‘The Chance’ first training session this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva. The Chance, an initiative that seeks to find the most promising young footballers, gathered 100 youngsters at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning for the first session of the week. On Saturday 16 players will be selected to train in the best football installations of the world under the watchful eyes of professional managers and well known scouts. If the players impress, they could be offered a professional contract.

The youngsters will train at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this week and play a final match on Saturday at the Miniestadi. The 16 finalists will be announced after the final.

Kicking the ball around with the players

The seven FC Barcelona footballers joined the six groups of players that Nike had distributed over the Ciutat Esportiva’s two fields. Barça’s players, in addition to passing the ball around posing for photographs with the youngsters, gave the aspiring footballers a bit of advice on how to succeed in the world of football.

Children from 55 countries make up Nike’s The Chance candidates. There are two Catalans among the potential future stars, one from Barcelona and the other from Badalona.
