In commemoration of Paulino Álcantara’s debut for FC Barcelona 100 years ago, his granddaughters Blanca and Clara Álcantara watched Barça’s first team take on Sporting Gijón from the presidential box at the Camp Nou this weekend. “It’s special for the family, very exciting,” the Álcantaras said right before kickoff.

The Hispano-Filipino, one of Barça’s first legendary players, is FC Barcelona’s all-time high goal scorer with 369 goals from 357 matches, including friendlies. The footballer scored a hat-trick for the team on his debut on February 25th, 1912; he was only 15 years old.

Thus, FC Barcelona pays tribute to one of the players that helped shape and build the history of Club. “He was very disciplined. He trained a lot and he did it all for Barça,” his granddaughters proudly said.
